LG G6 Review:
Instead of the normal 16:9 aspect ratio seen on nearly any smartphone before its birth, LG chosen for an 18:9 aspect ratio screen (essentially 2:1) which offers a taller panel at a more compact body.
The 5.7-inch screen -- a substantial gain from the 5.3-inch panel of the G5 -- sits in a shell that is barely larger than its predecessor and also one that is noticeably smaller than the 5.5-inch
One negative effect of cramming a larger screen into a casing of the size is the corners of this panel are now curved, instead of at right angles. It is somewhat strange at first, but easy to becomes used to.
It fits with the general curviness of this telephone but looks best on the black version. On my white inspection unit, the black edge between the panel and bezel is rather notable, along with the corner curves are not perfectly circular. It is a little problem, but after you've discovered it, it is difficult to overlook.
Another issue is black pubs. Remember when Apple switched on the iPhone out of a 4-inch into a 5-inch display? It led to weeks (possibly years) of programs not fitting the screen correctly, with many needing thick black bars at the top and underside to do the job. Something similar is occurring here, but not to the exact same amount of annoyance.
