Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro (2018) Review:
The Samsung Galaxy S9 has a luxurious design of metal and glass, with pointed edges on both sides. It has a 5.8-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display with 18.5:9 aspect ratio. It also has an excellent touch of responsiveness and color and also supports HDR. In India, the phone uses the OCTA-core 9810 SoC and comes with 4GB of RAM option for 64GB or 256GB of internal storage that can be expanded.
There is also a stereo speaker offering good sound quality and there is also wireless charging here. In other respects, the main highlight is the camera, which features a variable aperture, super slow motion video up to 960fps and AR emojis, making the shot perfect. The camera performance is also good, especially in low light conditions. The 3000mAh battery supports fast charging and should stretch all day on one charge.
This smartphone is one of Samsung's flagship, the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series, plays an important role in the company's ability to dominate the global market. Last year's Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ and Galaxy Note 8 (Review) helped Samsung capture a large chunk of global markets in 2017, with Apple bypassing the path and companies hoping to get better results with 2018 updates. Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ were launched in India shortly after the global announcement at MWC 2018 at the same starting price as last year's model. This is good news for anyone planning to choose one on the start day.
The physical buttons have good feedback and are easy to reach in the Galaxy S9, but are thought to be less so on the Galaxy S9+. We often like it when we mix the larger models around the palms to get the volume and the power switch on the side. The dedicated Bixby button still exists and cannot be reassigned to perform other functions. A tap takes you to Bixby's home screen, which provides map-based information about places around you (powered by Foursquare), news (powered by Flipboard) and even updates from installed applications such as Twitter, Uber, etc.
Samsung Galaxy S9 Features:
If you hold down the Bixby key, you can use voice commands. For example, you can ask them to send a message to someone via WhatsApp, followed by an actual message. In practice, we found that Bixby worked well as long as we repeated our commands correctly. Samsung offers a list of suggested voice commands for some popular applications. Bixby has more features that we'll get soon.
We're pleased that Samsung still relies on the 3.5mm headphone jack, and there's also a USB Type-C port and speakers at the bottom of each phone. Both Galaxy S9 phones vibrate a little for haptic feedback when you press the home button on the screen. At the top are two nano SIM trays with provisions for microSD cards for memory expansion (up to 400 GB). The Galaxy S9 device we received for review is not an Indian retail unit because it has only one SIM slot. Both phones also have RGB notification LEDS.
Samsung has changed the back of this phone compared to the Galaxy S8 series, and it's for better. The fingerprint sensor is now much more accessible and actually useful, compared to the cumbersome placement on the Galaxy S8 model. Thanks to the leading mountains around them, it is also easy to distinguish them from camera modules by touch. The heart rate sensor still exists and takes place under the flashing LEDS on each phone. With the Galaxy S9+you get a second camera with a telephoto lens, directly under the main camera. The camera bumps on both phones are ignored in thickness, and the phone does not rock when placed on a flat surface.
Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ have a very good build quality and look every bit as premium as you would expect from a flagship smartphone in 2018. Samsung sent US versions of Lilac Purple and Midnight Black, and there was also a selection of Coral Blue to choose from, although strangely the version of Titanium Grey did not come to India (yet). Each phone box has an AKG-tuned headset, a power supply with fast filling support, a Type-C cable, a SIM ejection tool, a silicone case, and a Type A USB Type-C adapter to migrate data from your old phone.
